Legal Notice

This notice sets out the terms on which Boring Translations Inc. ("Boring Translations", "we", "us") makes this website available, and explains the limits of our responsibility for the translation and language services we provide. By using this website, you accept this notice.

The terms governing a specific translation or language-services engagement are those set out in the applicable quotation, statement of work, purchase order, contract or other written agreement between us. Where those terms conflict with this notice, the engagement-specific terms prevail.

1. The nature of the information on this site

The descriptions of services, workflows, language coverage and turnaround on this website are general information. They are not an offer, a quotation, or a commitment of any kind. What we will actually do, for what fee and by when, is whatever we and you confirm in writing or by email for that engagement.

We take care to keep this site accurate and current, but we do not warrant that every statement on it is free of error or up to date at the moment you read it.

2. The scope of our responsibility for translation

Translation involves professional judgment. The same source text can have more than one correct rendering. We translate and review to the quality standard, terminology and intended use agreed for each engagement, and we stand behind that work. We are not responsible to the extent that an issue is caused by:

If you have a concern about a delivered translation, raise it within the review period agreed for that engagement and we will assess and correct it within the agreed scope.

3. Machine translation and AI assistance

We may use translation memory, terminology management, machine translation and AI assistance to improve consistency and efficiency. Whether these are used at all, how they are used, and the depth of human review applied, are confirmed with you before work starts.

If you have restrictions on data handling, tooling, or the use of content for model training, tell us when you engage us and we will work to them. We do not use client content to train AI models, and we do not permit our suppliers to do so.

4. Certified documents and receiving authorities

We translate documents and, where applicable, can explain and assist with notarization, certification and legalization. Whether a particular document is accepted is decided by the receiving body — a court, a government department, a university, an embassy or consulate — under its own rules. That decision is not ours to make and we cannot guarantee it.

Before engaging us, confirm with the receiving body what format, level of certification and validity period it requires. We will then work to those requirements.

5. Not professional advice

Nothing on this website, and nothing in a translation we deliver, constitutes legal, medical, financial, tax or other professional advice. Where a matter calls for professional judgment, consult a suitably qualified professional in the relevant jurisdiction.

6. Third-party sites and resources

This site links to third-party websites and cites external sources for your convenience. We are not responsible for their content, their policies, or any later change to either, and a link is not an endorsement.

7. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the content of this website is owned by or licensed to Boring Translations. It may not be reproduced, republished, adapted, distributed or used commercially except with our written permission or as otherwise permitted by law.

Source material you supply, and the rights in it, remain yours or those of its rightful owner. Ownership of the economic rights in a translation is governed by the contract for that engagement.

8. Confidentiality

We are bound to keep client documents and project information confidential. Every linguist who works on your material is under a written confidentiality agreement before receiving it. The handling of personal data is governed separately by our privacy policy.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from the use of this website or the provision of our services, including loss of profit, loss of goodwill and loss of data. Our total liability is limited to the fees paid or payable for the engagement giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in this notice excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

This notice is governed by and construed under the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Any dispute arising from this website or our services will first be addressed by good-faith negotiation between the parties. Failing that, the parties agree that the Taiwan New Taipei District Court shall be the court of first instance.

11. Changes to this notice

We may revise this notice. The current version is the one published here, and it takes effect when published.
